Squirrels fight over almonds

It seems like some kinds of foods are worth fighting for.

Our squirrels rarely fight much over sunflower seeds, but put down some roasted almonds (unsalted, gotta watch that sodium intake) and the fur literally starts to fly.

Seriously, there were bits of squirrel fur floating around when it was over.

Fighting over almonds.

Hoversquirrel attack!

For this reason, I think we aren’t going to feed them almonds anymore.

That's all? Meh, not sure it's worth it...

See ya... (Hangs on by back leg.)

Little girl plays with dead squirrel

This video featuring a little girl playing with a dead squirrel is getting lots of attention.

Apparently the family’s dog killed the squirrel a few minutes before this video was shot and then the little girl started playing with its dead body.

The video is generating lots of discussion: is it morbid, disgusting, cute—all of the above?

Young squirrel shows up at feeding station

This little guy showed up on the back porch yesterday. He’s one of the spring babies although now he’s more of a juvenile than a baby.

I think it’s the same squirrel as featured in this post, but I can’t be 100 per cent sure.

They are so cute at this stage. Look at that perfect coat, not a hair missing anywhere. His ears are free of combat scars—no tattoos or piercings either.

He seemed to get the hang of the place. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of him now that he knows there’s free food to be had.
